Mark and Peter Gillis want to see robber, but he doesn’t come

Mark Gillis was really terrified when he was assaulted in Ommel last November. He was beaten, but the perpetrators also called in his family. “It was said that they already had my father, sister and brother and that I had to cooperate or they would stab my back.” Luckily he was spared that.

Mark tells it a bit hypothermic or perhaps also tired from all the attention. Shortly before that, the first session was concluded in the court in Den Bosch against one of the three men who would have been involved in the assault.

It was a pro forma case which, as expected, yielded little news. Only that the 40-year-old suspect from Den Bosch will remain in custody until at least September 13. Then the next pro forma case. It is not known when the two other suspects will appear in court.

“I would have liked to see that suspect.”

The day started for Mark and his father Peter, who had also come to Den Bosch, with a bitter pill. The suspect, who was the first of the three to be arrested in April, was not seen or heard during the hearing. “Unfortunately, that was disappointing”, agrees Mark, “because I had prepared myself for it anyway. I would have loved to see him. But maybe he already knew in advance that he would have to stay in jail.”

Mark repeated after the hearing that the suspects were after his safe. “But I don’t have a safe. They also wanted money and at one point they said they already had my father, sister and brother. Otherwise they managed to arrange it themselves. That was no fun.” More than six months after the robbery at the holiday park, it still keeps him busy. “Well, it’s survival and healing isn’t it?” But Mark will be there again when the case is continued, although he assumes that the Bossche suspect will not be present again.

“It’s good that he stays behind closed doors.”

Mark was accompanied by his father Peter. “I thought it was important to be with my son,” said the SBS reality star. “And I wanted to see who was behind that robbery. Unfortunately he wasn’t there. But what does us good is that he stays behind closed doors and everyone agreed. Even his lawyer didn’t ask for his release.”

“What I think is a bad thing is that I have to hear that they told Mark that they already had me, my son and daughter. That’s mental abuse. Fiercely! Oh well, I’ll leave it up to the judge to decide the punishment. I think the maximum sentence is 12 years in prison. Judging by DNA traces and tapped telephone conversations, it is on top of it for me: lock up. It’s as clear as a log for me.”
