Bonus Prince of Norway Marius Borg Høibyn the trial has recently dealt with him and his ex-partner Nora Hauklandin relationship.

The couple dated in 2022–2023. Høiby is accused of violence in a relationship and of controlling Haukland.

The court has discussed, among other things, the exchange of messages between the two. From the recently highlighted messages, it appears that Høiby told Haukland confidentially about his life in public.

At the end of June 2023, Haukland was ending the relationship. At that time, the former couple sent each other a lot of messages. Haukland expressed in his messages that the relationship was over for him, while Høiby said that he still wanted to continue it.

In one of the messages, Høiby apologized for several things and also wrote:

– I have been married into a public family against my will, and it has been incredibly difficult for me to be in the public eye without anything to be proud of.

A changing atmosphere

Høiby and Haukland’s separation was reported in July 2023. However, the exchange of messages presented in court shows that they kept in close contact even after their separation.

In August 2023, they expressed their love for each other even more.

– I don’t want to let go completely, Høiby wrote in one message.

– We don’t need to, Haukland answered.

At the beginning of September, Haukland went to film a reality show. When he was eliminated from the competition, Høiby sent him many encouraging and kind messages:

– Oh no, my girl. Anyway, I’m really proud of you.

In October, however, their relationship changed. Høiby wrote to his ex-partner, among other things:

– If you ever walk past me on the street, I’ll spit in your fucking disgusting face.

Friends in court

On Thursday, several of Høiby’s friends gave their testimony at the Oslo district court.

A friend said that he saw a situation where Nora Haukland slapped Høiby during an argument.

– You know how it sounds when you clap your hands together. The same sound is heard when you hit the cheek, the friend explained.

A female friend told about an incident in which Høiby had broken a restraining order against a Frogner woman. He defended his friend’s behavior as follows:

– It’s not about what he is like as a person, but about who he is, or whose son he is. It has been very difficult for him and has caused uncertainty about who he can trust.

Another female friend defended Høiby’s violation of the second restraining order. He described Høiby as, among other things, caring and sensitive.

– He is considered a misogynist, but I don’t recognize that. He is one of the people I respect the most. Marius is one of my friends who respect me the most. He is caring and someone I can talk to about anything and ask for advice. I really care about him, the friend said.

Tears in court

The Frogner woman’s mother also testified in court on Thursday.

He told, among other things, the events in the woman’s apartment after the violent situation at night in August 2024 and the time after that when Høiby and his daughter were allegedly still in contact.

She told, in a voice breaking from crying, how the relationship with Høiby had affected her daughter.

– He probably had some kind of faith that things would change, the mother said.

Born in January 1997, Marius Borg Høiby is the first son of Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit. Marius has no royal title.
