Last summer he told Gazzetta: “I’m 84 years old, I hope to be able to see one of my teams in Formula 1”. Mario Andretti is not only the only true champion of both track worlds, he is also loved and respected like few others on this and the other side of the Atlantic. For a long time, through the operations of his son Michael he hoped that the 11th F1 team would bear his name. It won’t be like that. Yet he did it anyway. The new team will be General Motors, with the name Cadillac. He will be at the top with a role that is not only honorary. “I actually keep hoping to see her,” he points out. “You know, Cadillac will enter in 2026, for me it will be 86. Let’s move forward, work, don’t worry. I hope to still enjoy a few good moments…”.
