The Finnish fashion house Marimekko presented its new collection for the coming autumn and winter instead of the familiar Copenhagen and Paris fashion weeks, this time at the Chamber of Finland.
The show organized in Helsinki, where the brand was founded, also celebrated Marimekko’s 75-year history.

– Marimekko’s story began in the spring of 1951, when [Marimekon perustaja] Armi Ratia organized a fashion show to show an example of how textured fabrics can be used. The dresses seen on stage were an immediate success, says Marimekko’s current Creative Director Rebecca Bay in the press release.
– When we were thinking about how to celebrate our 75th anniversary, organizing the show in Helsinki felt particularly natural, he commented.
This collection of the fashion brand known for its colorful and bold patterns features, among other things, Attika patterns designed by Maija Isola, a Japanese textile designer by Masaru Suzuki Flower hat designs as well Antti Kekin Lossi patterns.
In addition, the show featured clothes from a special collection designed by Finnish fashion designer Rolf Ekroth for Marimekko, the patterns of which were designed by a Danish textile artist Vibeke Rohland by hand pressing.
