Marij (54) from Groningen delves into the maritime history of the Peat Colonies. ‘It starts with a time travel’

It started as an idea for a cookbook. It became a solid book about the (maritime) history of the Groningen Peat Colonies, a personal chronicle of farmers, shipyard bosses and entrepreneurs: men and women. “I called the publisher: it will be a little bigger,” says Marij Thiecke from Groningen.
