Mariënstede has launched a new book: Meer-Min. The story is about a mermaid ‘Meer-Min’ who goes exploring together with her friends. Mariënstede’s vision is central to the book.

“Meer-Min comes to know that the deepest part of herself – talent, togetherness and friendship – is very important,” say workshop supervisors Griet Vanfleteren and Cyntia Samyn.

“That is also Mariënstede’s vision. At a certain point she also loses her way and has to rely on her friends and their talents to find her way back to the castle.”

Experience route

The story takes place in the vicinity of the castle grounds in Dadizele, which is also linked to an experience route with assignments. Resident Ivan Biesbrouck (64) made the drawings and professional author Maaike wrote the story.

“I especially hope that it will be picked up and that the story can also be heard in schools and associations, because it is a story that fits everywhere,” said Maaike. “There are people everywhere with talents that may not be seen. Then you have the Meer-Min story that actually brings that to the surface, literally out of the water.”

The book is available in the Mariënstede shop in Dadizele and in the tourist office ‘t Torreke.
