Marianne Vos with confidence towards ‘spicy’ Paris-Roubaix

Marianne Vos wants to score high again on the Paris-Roubaix race. Last year, 34-year-old Vos finished second in the competition. She will go for the win on Saturday. She is looking forward to the race: “Paris-Roubaix is one of the greatest races in the history of cycling.”

Vos considers it an honor to be able to ride the cobbled classic. “It’s great to be part of that, but I experienced last year that it is a very tough race and it will probably be again now.”

The first edition of the race took place last October and Vos performed well. She wants to repeat that performance on Saturday: “It makes a difference that we know what to expect. Until last year we only knew Paris-Roubaix from TV, now we have the experience of October in our pocket.”

At the time, the weather conditions were rainy. Now the Jumbo-Visma cyclist expects a different course: “The absence of rain will also help. Because the strips are dry, we can determine much better where the road surface is least bad.”

Last week Vos let the Amstel Gold Race pass her by. So that she could prepare as best as possible for Paris-Roubaix. De Bosschenaar is confident at the start of the race: “I’m fit, I’m really looking forward to it, the tire pressure has been tested extensively and we are well prepared as a team, so it can’t be that.”
