María Teresa Fernández de la Vega resigns from the presidency of the Council of State

The President of the Council of State, Maria Teresa Fernandez de la Vegahas communicated his resignation from the position, which will be confirmed in the Council of Ministers next Tuesday, October 18, according to sources from the highest advisory body of the Government.

The resignation occurs after fulfilling the commitment acquired by De la Vega with Pedro Sánchez to be four years at the head of the Council of State and to undertake a series of reforms such as the digitization and transparency of the institution.

However, it is foreseeable that De la Vega will continue as permanent member of said Council, although it is also the Executive who must approve the appointment. In fact, a position in the Permanent Commission of the Council of State will remain vacant since last week the permanent counselor elected by the PSOE resigned Victoria Camps.
