Maria Sakkari can win the match against Julia Putinzewa. Afterwards there is a dispute between the opponents.

Maria Sakkari reached the round of 16 at the Bad Homburg Open. Against Julia Putinzewa, the Greek prevailed on Sunday in two sets with 7: 5, 7: 6. Actually a reason for positive feelings in the 29-year-old, but on the Hessian lawn there was an unsightly incident after the match.

When the two tennis professionals met on the network for mandatory handshake, a dispute broke out. The reason was not visible at first. But then Sakkari addressed her opponent.

“Nobody likes you. Nobody likes you,” she became clear towards Putinzewa when she packed her things. The Kazakhin tried to keep against it. But then Sakkari gave her the reason for her anger. “When you shake your hands, you look into your eyes,” said the former number three in the world rankings. Apparently Putinzewa had not behaved correctly on the network after Sakkari’s taste.

Putinzewa then made a not very serious gesture. When Sakkari turned her back on her, she threw her arms from top to bottom as if she was worshiping her opponent. The word battle continued very briefly before the players’ paths separated on the lawn.

In the space interview, Sakkari then announced again against Putinzewa. “I can’t imagine that one day she will invite me to eat,” she said. “But to be honest: I don’t care!”
