The second season of the costume series Maria antonietta The innovative intuition of the first act continues: present a queen in a contemporary keywithout derogating from the reconstruction of historical aspects, but at the same time capable of dealing with universal themes that cross the boundaries of the time.

The series, a Franco-Polacca co-production led by Canal+, explores the Queen’s private life, in a historical period just a little preceding the events that triggered the French Revolution.

The last queen of France, loved and controversial, is presented under a human guisewhich is not enough to appease the growing discontent of the poorest masses in the country.

Emblematic, in this sense, precisely the beginning of the second season when, in a Paris affected by the frost and one of the worst winters of its history, Let’s see the Queen trying to respond to the needs and suffering of the population (descends from the royal carriage to give blankets to the homeless); A gesture that actually does nothing but hear and emphasize the distance between court life and that of the people.

Thanks to a well -kept photograph, the series offers a vivid historical narrative by returning the contours of the time.
For those who love historical customs in costume and disputes of power.
