Throughout her academic and professional career, María Agostina perfected her teaching method, incorporating the latest advances in the teaching of English from her studies at prestigious universities in the United Kingdom. His experience accompanying students and professionals from different fields allowed him to identify a recurring problem in Argentina: many people face a language barrier that limits their growth and their ability to stand out in an increasingly globalized world.
-In a world where international projection is increasingly relevant, why is English much more than a language?
-In a world where opportunities, information and connections transcend borders, English works as a bridge that allows you to actively participate in that world.
More than knowing English, what really makes the difference is being able to use it to communicate ideas, generate links and function safely in real situations. In that sense, English not only expands possibilities, but also conditions who can access them.
-Many professionals feel that their level of English is not sufficient to function successfully in international contexts. What is behind that language barrier and what really allows them to overcome it?
-A few years ago, English went from being a differential to a strategic necessity for professionals and companies. But in today’s world, “knowing English” is not enough: the true difference is in the level that is achieved.
For a long time, an intermediate level was enough, but today it is no longer enough to compete and stand out. The barrier appears when you need to express more complex ideas with clarity, depth and confidence. Overcoming it implies developing a more advanced level that allows not only to participate, but also to contribute and position oneself in increasingly demanding environments.
-What communication skills in English are necessary today to stand out in the professional and corporate world?
-There are many times that the professionals I work with tell me: “Agos, I feel like I have to simplify my ideas by saying them in English and they end up losing impact.” Today, what is really valued is the ability to communicate more complex ideas clearly, argue, negotiate and actively participate in conversations without losing nuances. And for this you need an advanced level.
-How do you work with those looking to boost their English in order to grow?
-I specialize in teaching English at advanced levels and precisely in the jump from intermediate to advanced level. This is where true growth occurs: when the person stops simplifying what they want to say and begins to express themselves with greater precision, flexibility and depth. I work a lot with real-life English and a methodology focused on communication, to help them function safely in contexts where they need to make decisions, argue or negotiate in English.
-What changes do you observe in professionals and companies that manage to incorporate English as a growth tool?
-In my opinion, when English stops being a limitation, invaluable opportunities open up: projects, links, collaborations and growth possibilities that were previously out of reach. In that sense, the level of English has a direct impact on international projection, and in many cases ends up defining who can access these opportunities and who cannot.
