Marcel Sabitzer sees himself “at the peak” after a lightning farewell

Marcel Sabitzer left FC Bayern at the very last minute before the change window in the Premier League closed Tuesday night. The midfielder continues his season in the Manchester United shirt and hasn’t hesitated.

Manchester United have loaned Marcel Sabitzer from FC Bayern until the end of the season and thus reacted at short notice to the serious injury to midfield strategist Christian Eriksen.

The fact that the deal went through on the so-called deadline day was mainly due to the Austrian’s spontaneity.

“Sometimes in life you have to make quick and important decisions. From the moment I heard about this opportunity I knew it was the right thing for me,” Sabitzer told club media after arriving in north-west England.

FC Bayern: That says Hasan Salihamidzic about the change from Marcel Sabitzer

The lightning transfer only became apparent during the course of Tuesday. Sabitzer no longer took part in FC Bayern training ahead of the cup game at Mainz 05 on Wednesday (8:45 p.m.).

In the afternoon he boarded a plane bound for England. Only late in the night did both clubs report completion.

Sports director Hasan Salihamidzic revealed that United only showed interest in the FC Bayern professional “at the beginning of the week”. Sabitzer’s request for more playing time was met and the release was granted.

Marcel Sabitzer sees himself “at the peak”

Sabitzer is likely to make his debut for the current fourth-placed team in the Premier League next Saturday (4:00 p.m.) in the home game against Crystal Palace.

“I’m a competitive player. I want to win and help the club achieve their goals this season,” said the 28-year-old.

Sabitzer is firmly convinced that he can help his new team promptly: “I have the feeling that I’m at the peak of my performance as a player and that I can bring a lot of experience and energy to the team. I’m looking forward to working with starting with my new team-mates and my new coach and showing my qualities to the Manchester United fans.”
