Turn ace Marcel Nguyen is contemplating the end of his career ahead of the European Championships in Munich in August.

“It could well be that it’s my last international competition,” said the 34-year-old in Munich. Nguyen, who won silver in the all-around and parallel bars at the London 2012 Olympics, has struggled with lengthy injuries.

After a cruciate ligament tear, Nguyen has problems with jumps. “The three apparatuses where I don’t have any knee problems are actually going really well,” Nguyen said, looking at the parallel bars, high bar and rings. “Everything is actually working at my old level again.”

The 2024 Olympic Games are “already far away for the Munich resident. At the moment I can’t imagine starting there again.”
