In 2025, Flanders will really look different. At least 50 municipalities are currently in official merger talks with one or more neighbours. What will your region look like in the near future? Who goes into business with whom? And does it stop at this sniffing round? After the carrot, the stick will follow in 2024, says authorized minister Bart Somers (Open Vld): “We should go to another hundred cities and municipalities with at least 30,000 inhabitants.”
