Mané and de Ligt put in an extra shift on the Monday off

The two star newcomers Sadio Mané and Matthijs de Ligt worked an extra shift on FC Bayern’s training-free Monday.

As Munich announced, coach Julian Nagelsmann had given his team a day to regenerate after the end of the trip to the USA.

Mané and de Ligt completed a unit on the club grounds one day after FC Bayern returned from the United States in the morning.

Mané, who was signed by Liverpool FC, traveled from the USA to Morocco last Thursday night, where he was voted “African Footballer of the Year”. The 30-year-old striker then returned to Munich.

De Ligt traveled to the team in the USA immediately after signing his contract with FC Bayern on Tuesday. Munich paid a whopping 67 million euros to Juventus Turin for the 22-year-old central defender.

FC Bayern: De Ligt sweats in “the toughest” training session

During the trip to the USA, the two newcomers celebrated a tailor-made debut. Mané and de Ligt scored in their first game in Bayern dress in a 6-2 win over MLS franchise DC United, who have been coached by Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney since this summer.

De Ligt in particular struggled a bit with fitness in his first week with the German record champions. The Dutchman had to be substituted on his debut due to a slight injury. During one of the following training sessions, the defensive edge admitted to coach Nagelsmann that it was “the toughest in the last four years”.

On Tuesday Nagelsmann asks for the first team training session after returning from the USA. Then the preparation for the DFL Supercup begins on Saturday (8:30 p.m.) at cup winners RB Leipzig.
