Mandatory visit to Namur Monument after anti-Semitic graffiti about Berghuis

Two men have been sentenced by the judge to a suspended community service of 60 hours and a mandatory visit to the Monument of Names. The men made a mural of Ajax player Steven Berghuis with anti-Semitic texts and images.

On the insulting mural Berghuis was drawn with a hooked nose, dressed in a striped concentration camp suit, with a Star of David on the chest and a yarmulke on the head. The men had written the text ‘Jews always run away’ next to the painting. Berghuis had just made the switch from Feyenoord to Ajax. According to the public prosecutor, the duo was guilty of group insulting Jews with the print.

National Holocaust Memorial of Names

The men must visit the National Holocaust Memorial of Names on the Weesperstraat in Amsterdam within twelve months. The two will invite a representative of the Center for Information and Documentation Israel or the Liberal Jewish community of Rotterdam.
