Idrissa Gueye from the English first division soccer team FC Everton received a red card in a strange way in the duel against Manchester United.
After an opponent’s attack, the midfielder shouted angrily at his teammate Michael Keane, who immediately retaliated with a little push. But the Senegalese didn’t want to let that go – and slapped Keane with his left hand.
Referee Tony Harrington didn’t hesitate for a second and sent Gueye off in the 13th minute. Afterwards, the 36-year-old continued to cook, Everton keeper Jordan Pickford had great difficulty calming his teammate and sending him towards the players’ tunnel.
Despite the self-inflicted outnumbering, the guests prevailed 1-0 (1-0) at Old Trafford. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (29th) scored the goal of the evening.
United remained without a win in their third league game in a row and missed the jump to fifth place. Everton caught up with Manchester on points.
