According to media reports, Frenkie de Jong’s move from FC Barcelona to Manchester United is imminent. As “Sky Sports” reported on Tuesday, the Premier League club and the Catalans are said to be “largely in agreement” on the transfer fee of 65 million euros plus further bonus payments of up to 25 million euros for the midfielder. Previously, Barça had reportedly rejected two offers from the “Red Devils” for the 25-year-old. Meanwhile, Feyenoord left-back Tyrell Malacia, who is being courted by Olympique Lyon, is also developing a U-turn towards Manchester.
For United and their new coach Erik ten Hag, who is reportedly around €150m available for a squad makeover, “transfer target number one” de Jong would be the first permanent signing. The Dutch coach worked with the 25-year-old from 2017 to 2019 at Ajax Amsterdam, whose contract in Spain runs until 2026. The right foot switched to the Catalans three years ago for the fee of 86 million euros.
Rumors of a transfer to the island have been around for weeks, but de Jong himself has been reluctant to comment. “You’re always flattered when teams show interest in you as a player, but I’m at the biggest club in the world at the moment and I feel good there, so no news,” he said recently after an international match with the Netherlands .

Feyenoord sporting director Arnesen confirms agreement with Man United at Malacia
Feyenoord Rotterdam and Olympique Lyon had already agreed on a 15 million euro deal including bonuses for left-back Tyrell Malacia, according to international media reports just a few days ago – the transfer of the 22-year-old to French Ligue 1 seems to be the last Meters but to have been hijacked by Manchester United. Feyenoord’s sporting director Frank Arnesen confirmed to the Dutch portal “1908.nl“: “The agreement is there. We’re waiting for Tyrell now. If he says yes, then a move to Manchester United is imminent.”
Malacia is one of the ten most valuable left-backs under the age of 23 in the world. The recent offer from United, who had previously been interested in the services of the left foot, trumps that of Lyon the Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano according to and amounts to 15 million transfer fee plus 2 million euros in bonuses. The portal “The Athletic‘ also reports that Feyenoord has an enshrined profit-sharing policy in the event of a resale. Born in Rotterdam, Malacia, who has been with the club since 2008, would become the second most expensive sale in the club’s history behind Dirk Kuyt (2006/07 for 18 million euros to Liverpool).
