Manchester City: Philippe Sandler joins Feyenoord Rotterdam

Free transfer to the Eredivisie

Feyenoord Rotterdam have signed Philippe Sandler (24) from Manchester City. As announced by the Dutch on Tuesday, the defender is coming on a free transfer and will receive a working paper until the end of the season, including an option “for a longer period of time”.

“The fact that we managed to get a full-back as a reinforcement shortly before the transfer deadline expired is very nice and also makes us less vulnerable in this position,” said technical director Frank Arnesen. Sandler switched from PEC Zwolle to the “Citizens” in 2018, who then paid 2.5 million euros. However, Sandler only played two games for the top English club.

Instead, the former Dutch junior international was loaned out to RSC Anderlecht in the 2019/20 season and to ESTAC Troyes in the first half of the previous season. He also only made two appearances with the newly promoted French Premier League, in which he was on the field for 70 minutes.
