Last game before World Cup break
Manchester City have conceded a surprising defeat in the Premier League after three wins in a row. The team around the former Dortmund striker Erling Haaland lost against the strong FC Brentford from London on Saturday in their own stadium with two goals from Ivan Toney 1: 2 (1: 1) and must cede first place in the table to Arsenal FC at least until Christmas .
Toney scored the winning goal for Brentford in the eighth minute of added time. Ten minutes were also replayed because of a lengthy treatment break for Manchester’s Aymeric Laporte. Toney put the visitors ahead in the 16th minute. England international Phil Foden (45+1), who was called up to the World Cup squad by national coach Gareth Southgate on Friday, scored the equalizer for star coach Pep Guardiola’s “Citizens”.
