Manchester City became the first team to reach the semi-finals of the English Football Cup. In the FA Cup, the “Skyblues” won 6-0 (2-0) against second division FC Burnley on Saturday (03/18/2023).

With a small rotation compared to the European Cup – among other things, as always in the cup, ex-Bielefeld Stefan Ortega was in goal – City needed something against the combative second division team. But Erling Haaland was the can opener in this game as well. After a long tee shot, the Norwegian escaped after a pass from Julian Alvarez and made it 1-0 (32nd). The 2-0 a little later (35th) and the 3-0 (59th) also went to Haaland’s goal.

After Alvarez made it 4-0 (62nd), Haaland was substituted. But even without him, the scoring machine kept going: Cole Palmer (68′) with a dust collector and Alvarez (73′) with a solo after a long pass from Kevin de Bruyne made it 6-0. In the end, Burnley pulled out of the affair more respectably than Leipzig at 0: 7 in the Champions League.

The other semi-finalists in the FA Cup will be determined on Sunday in the games Sheffield United v Blackburn Rovers, Brighton & Hove Albion v Grimsby Town and Manchester United v Fulham FC.
