Manchester City extends early with Haaland competitor

Football World Champion Julian Álvarez will stay with Manchester City in the long term. As the English champions announced on Thursday, the Argentinian extended his contract by another year until 2028.

Álvarez joined Manchester from Argentine top-flight club River Plate last year, but City loaned the striker back to his former club until July. The 23-year-old has scored ten goals in his 33 games for the Skyblues.

“I’m very happy with my first season here, but I can do a lot more,” said Álvarez, who scored four goals for Argentina at the World Cup in Qatar: “I know I can do better and City are offering everything I need to fulfill my potential.”
