The Premier League championship has long been a two-way deal.
Since Manchester City beat Arsenal a couple of weeks ago, they have been virtually level on points, and the order of the teams had to be determined by goal difference.
However, Arsenal have since beaten Newcastle and most recently Fulham, while City had to settle for a Cup semi-final after the Burnley match.
On Monday, the Sky Blues would have had to beat Everton away to stay in the race with Arsenal.
Based on the opening sequence Pep Guardiola’s the crew was doing enough. It led at the break Jérémy Dokun with a great uppercut.
City’s house of cards started to collapse in the 68th minute, when the club was acquired in a million dollar deal Marc Guéhi gave the hosts the opening goal. Toppari left the pass to his own goalkeeper For Gianluigi Donnarumma way too short, and Thierno Barry got to enjoy the handicap in the back corner.
After that, the game turned completely upside down. Jake O’Brien headed Everton into the lead and Barry already finished 3–1 before Erling Haaland narrowed straight from the kick-off.
