Manchester City have done excellent business in the battle for the English league title. The team of coach Pep Guardiola easily won 5-0 at home against Newcastle United and thus took full advantage of Liverpool’s half misstep, which did not go further than a 1-1 draw at home against Tottenham Hotspur yesterday.
Manchester City is therefore a three point gap with Liverpool, with only three games to go. The team is also somewhat washing away the hangover from the painful elimination in the Champions League. On Wednesday, a place in the final was handed over by a miraculous comeback from Real Madrid.
Raheem Sterling scored the opening goal in the 19th minute after a nice attack. João Cancelo headed the ball well, after which the British attacker was able to hit the target. Even before halftime, defender Aymeric Laporte made it 2-0. Goalkeeper Martin Dubravká did not save well on a long shot, the rebound was for Laporte.
On a pass from Kevin De Bruyne, Rodri made the third City goal. Substitute Phil Foden and again Sterling scored in the final phase.
City and Liverpool both still play against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Aston Villa. City also plays against West Ham United and Liverpool against Southampton.
