Manchester City accused of breaking financial rules

The English Premier League management announced that Manchester City, which has been champions 4 times in the last 5 years, violated the financial rules.

According to the statement on the Premier League’s website, as a result of the investigation carried out by the independent board, it was determined that Manchester City made various rule violations between the 2009-10 and 2017-18 seasons.

It was stated that the commission will conduct the process confidentially and the decision will be published on the Premier League’s website.

Among the rules Manchester City are breaking are the failure to provide accurate information that truly and fairly reflects the club’s financial situation, particularly sponsorship revenues and operating costs (from 2009-10 to 2017-18 season), lack of full salary details in manager contracts (2009). -10 to 2012-13 season), non-compliance with UEFA regulations, including club licensing and financial fair play rules (from 2013-14 to 2017-18 seasons).

Three years ago, UEFA banned Manchester City from European Cups for the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons and fined 30 million euros for not complying with the rules of financial fair play in 2012-2016.

As a result of the club’s objection, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) lifted the ban from UEFA organizations and reduced the fine to 10 million euros.
