‘Man who was dumped at hospital after explosion is in wheelchair’

The seriously injured man who was left at the Catharina Hospital in Eindhoven in November last year after a bomb raid in Germany, denies that he had anything to do with it. 19-year-old Mohamed El O. said he was injured because he was hit by the black Mercedes that he was dropped off at the hospital.

The suspect appeared in court in Amsterdam on Tuesday. NH News was at the hearing and saw El O. being wheeled into the courtroom. His left leg is badly damaged and he is undergoing an intensive rehabilitation process.

The police believe that El O. suffered serious injuries in a bomb raid in the German town of Neuss, near Düsseldorf. The attack was committed by three men. The German police are convinced that El O. is one of those men.

He himself denies this, as it turned out in court on Tuesday. According to El O. he was hit by the black Mercedes, he was seriously injured and he was then dropped off by that car at the Catharina Hospital in Eindhoven. Video footage shows that El O. was lifted from the car and placed in a wheelchair at the entrance of the hospital. The Mercedes raced off and doctors took care of the Alkmaarder.

Germany wants El O. to be extradited. The court will decide on this in two weeks.
