Leeds candidate Schreuder at the stadium

Manchester United has made the leap to second place in the Premier League for the time being. The English record champions won 2-0 (0-0) at Leeds United on Sunday and overtook local rivals Manchester City (45) with 46 points. The “Citizens” will host Aston Villa on Sunday (5:30 p.m.) and still have a catch-up game to play against leaders Arsenal.

Update 7:21 p.m.: In the evening, Manchester City followed suit and overtook the “Red Devils” again. Pep Guardiola’s team beat Aston Villa 3-1 (3-0) and can catch up with the Gunners with 48 points if they win on Wednesday (8:30 p.m.) in north London.

Four days after the 2-2 draw in the league first leg at Old Trafford, Marcus Rashford scored the lucky opening goal for coach Erik ten Hag’s team in the 80th minute. The 25-year-old has scored in 13 of 16 games since the World Cup break (14 goals & 5 assists). 18-year-old Alejandro Garnacho made it 2-0 five minutes later. The hosts were the better team for a long time and missed the lead several times.

According to consistent media reports, Alfred Schreuder was a spectator on Elland Road. The Dutchman is considered a top candidate to succeed Jesse March, who had to leave as Leeds coach at the beginning of February. Schreud was a coach at Ajax Amsterdam until January and previously also coached TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.
