English finale perfect: Man United and Tottenham in the final

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are in the final of the Europa League. United won 4: 1 (0: 1) against Athletic Bilbao on Thursday evening, thus destroying the Spaniard’s dream of the final in his own stadium. Mason Mount with a double pack (72nd / 90th+1), Casemiro (80th) and Rasmus Højlund (85th) met the team of coach Ruben Amorim, Mikel Jauregizar had put the Basque lead (31st). The “Red Devils” had already won the first leg in Bilbao 3-0.
At the same time, Tottenham had no problems with Bodö at 2-0 (0: 0) away and ended the course of the Norwegians, who was the first team in their country to achieve a semi -finals in a European competition. In front of the eyes of Crown Princess Mette-Marit and Prince Sverre Magnus, Bodö pushed for the lead goal. But this did not fall. Dominic Solanke (63.) and Pedro Porro (69th) met instead for the guests. The first leg in London was 3-1 for the “Spurs”.
The final will take place on May 21st in the Estadio San Mamés from Bilbao. The winner of the duel receives a starting place in the Champions League. For Manchester and Tottenham, it is the great opportunity to save a completely messed up season. In the Premier League, the clubs are currently only in places 15 and 16.
So far there had been a purely English final in the Europa League or in the previous UEFA Cup competition in 1972 (Tottenham – Wolverhampton) and 2019 (Chelsea – Arsenal). For United it is the first European League final since 2021, the Spurs had recently stood in the Champions League final in 2019.
