The substantive hearing of the criminal case against the man started on Monday morning at the court at Schiphol.
According to the NHD, the suspect was staying in the detention center in Nieuwegein. It is not clear how he died. The case will be formally legally closed at a later date. That means the persecution stops.
Man was suspected of abuse
The man, a snack bar owner according to it Noordhollands Dagbladis alleged to have abused at least seven underage employees between 2014 and 2025. He is also said to have had child pornography in his possession.
The case came to light when two victims reported it. Two days were set aside for the substantive hearing of the lawsuit.
The judge called the event ‘tragic’. According to the newspaper, her attention was focused on the victims who ‘had hoped for justice during this hearing and wanted to use their right to speak to tell their version of the story’.
