The emergency services were alerted to the accident around 11.35 am. The cyclist fell hard on Kerkstraat for unknown reasons, a police spokesperson said.
The man was in bad shape. He was resuscitated on the street and then transported to hospital. It is not known how he is doing now.
The police are investigating what happened. That is why the road is still closed.
