A passenger car veered off the road in a gentle bend and crashed heavily into a tree. The driver, a 50-year-old man from Diksmuide, was killed. The blow must have been enormous, because the thick tree snapped.
According to the initial findings, the accident was caused by inappropriate speed. No other vehicles were involved in the traffic accident.
