Man died in Oedelem due to hunting accident

The lifeless body of the victim was found around 12:30 p.m. in a field in the Bruinbergstraat in Oedelem, a sub-municipality of Beernem. The Bruges public prosecutor’s office appointed a law doctor and a weapons expert to investigate the precise circumstances of the death. The lab and the exit team also went on site to make the necessary determinations. A gunshot wound was found on the victim’s body. However, according to initial findings, no third parties were involved in the fatal shooting incident. The most likely hypothesis is that the victim injured himself accidentally. After all, the man himself had a hunting weapon with him. According to the public prosecutor’s office, there is therefore no question of malicious intent.
