A 24-year-old man was hit with his own chain lock by a bicycle thief in Tilburg on Saturday evening. The thief lashed out after the man caught him with his fat bike.

The victim had finished shopping around ten o’clock when he saw two men standing by his fat bike. They cut the lock and got the bike loose. When he tried to stop them, one of the men hit him with the cut chain lock.

The victim was injured, but decided to give chase anyway. At that moment it seemed as if one of the perpetrators, a man of about 40, took something out of his pockets. Thinking this could be a weapon, the victim stopped the chase.

One bicycle thief fled on the stolen fat bike towards Vredeman de Vriesstraat. The other went running in the other direction.

The victim was treated for his injuries at a doctor’s office.
