The husband of a woman who was found dismembered last week in the Buttes-Chaumont urban park in Paris was placed in pre-trial detention on Thursday morning. A source close to the investigation has confirmed this after a report from the newspaper Le Parisien.

The victim is a 46-year-old mother from Seine-Saint-Denis. Her husband reported her missing on February 6.

A plastic bag containing the woman’s pelvis and thighs, later identified through analysis of her fingerprints, was discovered Feb. 13 under a pile of green waste in the Buttes-Chaumont Municipal Park.

The following day, other remains, including the head, were also found during a thorough search of the large park in northeastern Paris, which is popular with walkers.

The husband is being questioned in the context of a judicial investigation opened last Friday for murder, violation of the integrity of a corpse and concealment of a corpse.
