Man arrested after accident near Staphorst, had used drugs

A 39-year-old man of no fixed abode was arrested yesterday afternoon after a serious accident on the A28 near Staphorst. The man tested positive for THC, the active substance in hashish and weed, during a drug test. Four people were injured in the accident and the highway was closed for hours.

That reports RTV East. The accident happened yesterday afternoon around 4:30 PM. Three cars collided, after which one of the cars ended up upside down. The highway was then closed for hours in the direction of Drenthe to clear the damage and investigate the cause of the accident.

The police are not making any statements about what happened. All findings will be sent to the Public Prosecution Service, where it will be decided whether criminal charges will be filed. For privacy reasons, the police cannot say how the four injured people are doing.
