Man (66) dies in fire in Bruges

The fire broke out around 8 a.m. this morning in a terraced house on Kammakersstraat in the center of Bruges. That is a side street of the Smedenstraat where mainly small almshouses are located.

Cause not clear at the moment

When firefighters arrived on the scene, flames were already shooting out of the house. The extinguishing works went smoothly, but the firefighters found the lifeless body of the resident inside. It concerns a wheelchair patient of 66.

The cause of the fire is not yet clear. The prosecutor’s office has appointed an expert. He must investigate the matter.
