The police officers had already been warned: the man had threatened violence. When they wanted to enforce a placement order against him, he attacked Thursday night.

The officials already knew what to expect when the fire brigade called them for support at 7 p.m.: A mentally unstable man lives in the apartment on Staakener Straße. There was a psychiatric placement order against him. The man didn’t open the door. The fire department came. Wanted to open the door. But called the police for assistance.

The police officers positioned themselves with a protective shield in front of the apartment door. Apparently he had already threatened the firefighters.

When firefighters finally opened the door, the man was standing behind the door with an ax in his hand. He immediately charged and hacked at the police officers. The blow was repelled by the “tactical deployment shield”.

None of the officers were injured. They overwhelm the attacker. He was then taken to the psychiatric ward of a hospital.
