The case revolves around the death of the then 29-year-old Abderrahim Belhad, also known as ‘Appie’. He was hit by several bullets on 9 May 2016 and died on the spot at a gallery of the Kikkenstein flat. The murder received a lot of attention at the time, partly because Belhadj might have been on a list of death of a notorious criminal organization from Utrecht.
According to the Public Prosecution Service, recent developments were the reason to reopen the file. It has not been announced exactly which new information has led to the breakthrough. The OM does know that the suspect will remain stuck for three months longer.
In 2017, another suspect, Jason L. from Amsterdam, was sentenced to 14 years in prison for co -perpetrating this liquidation.
