So far, one babysitter has been identified on images of child pornography found with the babysitter who is suspected of child abuse. This is apparent from the first non-substantive session against the 24-year-old man from Schagen. The man was a babysitter for at least eleven families with babies and toddlers in Breda, Den Bosch and Tilburg, among others.
It is not yet clear whether the 24-year-old suspect, Julian F., also committed sexual abuse at the other babysitting addresses. The Public Prosecutor does not rule that out. She has viewed sixty percent of the images so far. More than 21,000 photos and more than 3,000 films were found with the suspect.
The mother of the babysitter has now filed a report against the suspect. Julian F. was not present at the hearing on Monday.
Caretaker in police uniform
The investigation into the man started after someone reported suspicious behavior of the man. That report did not come from any of the families.
The man offered himself for four years, between 2019 and May 2023, via Marktplaats. According to the judiciary, he had an ‘attractive rate’ and he instilled confidence in parents by posing in a police uniform, while he was never employed there. He was photographed in uniform because he followed the Enforcer Supervision and Security (HTV) training and was allowed to watch the police profession.
Second suspect
The man was arrested in May. The police took data carriers with them during a house search, which showed images of child abuse at one of the suspect’s babysitting families. It also contained child pornography and animal pornography.
A second suspect has also been arrested in the investigation. It concerns a 38-year-old man from Alkmaar. The main suspect would have sent him the homemade images of the child abuse. The Alkmaarder, who was before the court on August 21, is still detained.
