A 21-year-old man from Eindhoven was arrested on Saturday evening in a terrorism investigation. A team from the Special Interventions Service (DSI) raided his house on Ruysdaelbaan in Eindhoven with a battering ram. “It is being investigated whether he has ties to Islamic State (IS),” the police National Unit said.
After the raid, officers in black coats entered to search the house. It seemed that they were mainly looking for electronic devices, such as phones and laptops. Later that evening, a company specialized in transporting hazardous substances came to the house. According to local residents, fireworks were taken.
Through the window of the house, officers could be seen viewing images and data on the man’s television on Saturday evening. It showed, among other things, masked men, firearms and Arabic texts.
The suspect will be brought before the examining magistrate on Tuesday. Because the investigation is still ongoing, police do not want to share any further information at this time.
