A 20-year-old man from Groesbeek is suspected of having caused a collision during Monday evening’s street race in Beugen. Two people were injured in the accident, including the man from Groesbeek. He has not yet been arrested as he is in hospital.
The cars of the street race collided with a third car that had nothing to do with the street race at the intersection of the Romansstraat. That car was driven by a pregnant woman. The woman broke her femur in the crash.
The man from Groesbeek suffered serious injuries in the collision and is still in hospital. His car has been impounded for investigation.
Footage of the street race could be seen at Dumpert. Police previously said it was likely a street race. There are also signs that street races are being held more often. The police ask witnesses of street races to report this to the emergency number 112.
