The breast increase continues to lead the ranking of aesthetic surgeries worldwide. According to the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), during 2024 more than 17.4 million surgical procedures were carried out for aesthetic purposes, and the accumulated growth of the last four years is 46.3%. Among the most carried out procedures are eyelid surgery, liposuction and, very close, the breast increase. However, behind the rise of this practice a less visible truth is hidden: mammoplasty is greater surgery that requires preparation, information and a rigorous medical approach.

The medical evaluation

Before making any aesthetic decision, there is a condition that does not admit shortcuts: the patient’s health status. The breast increase is not a lower intervention or can be treated as a catalog service. It is programmed surgery, and as such, it demands that the body be in optimal conditions. The pre -surgical evaluation is the first unavoidable step and covers a series of key studies: a complete cardiological evaluation, laboratory analysis (blood and urine), mammary ultrasound and updated mammography.

This stage seeks to rule out any risk factor that can complicate surgery. Low hemoglobin levels, alterations in coagulation, liver or renal problems: everything must be within normal parameters. According to the plastic surgeon Juan Manuel Seren (Mn 107.174), a specialist in breast surgery of rapid recovery, this check “is not a formality, but an absolute need. A patient cannot be intervened if he is not in his best state of health.”

The right professional

Once the clinical status is confirmed, the next step is perhaps the most delicate: the choice of the surgeon and the medical center where the procedure will be carried out. It is not a decision based on likes or followers. The professional must be certified by recognized entities such as the Argentine Society of Plastic, Aesthetic and Repairing Surgery (Sacper) or the Society of Plastic Surgery of Buenos Aires (SCPBA). This certification guarantees training, experience and permanent update.

Also the place of surgery matters. It must be a high -complex operating room, with access to intensive therapy, hemotherapy and anesthetic monitoring of the latest generation. Today there is no surgery without hypnosis control through BIS technology, which allows customizing anesthesia doses with absolute precision. In addition, throughout the intervention vital signs, pressure, breathing, oxygenation and carbon dioxide levels are constantly monitored. Security is no longer an added value: it is a basic condition of professional practice.

Implants: How to choose them

Another key aspect of surgery is the choice of the type of implant. At present, different surfaces (smooth, textured, polyurethane) are used and an innovation that makes an important difference: low weight implants. This technology, developed in Germany and exported to the whole world, allows to reduce the impact of the implant on tissues. As Seren explains, those of low weight “generate less tension, less risk of atrophy, less stretch marks and slower aging of breast tissue.” While its cost is higher, the long -term benefits are evident.

Breast implants

In addition, the world trend is in a clear direction: naturalness and harmony. Patients – mostly women between 18 and 34 – seek a result according to the body, that accompanies the figure without exaggerations or artificiality. The implant ceased to be a symbol of ostentation and became an aesthetic resource to enhance the image without distorting it.

Fast and safe recovery

Recovery has also changed radically in recent years. The Erabas protocol, developed by Juan Manuel Seren, is a concrete sample of that evolution. Based on minimal incisions, without bandages or drains, it allows extremely fast recovery, with more than 95% of patients reintegrated into their normal activities in less than 48 hours. This methodology is possible thanks to an integral approach that takes care of both the surgical aspect and the emotional well -being of the patient.

From the first consultation to the operation, a month, necessary time to complete the studies and plan the procedure. In the private sector, that period can be shortened, but without saving any step. Seren emphasizes that “well -made cosmetic surgery is not defined only by the visible result, but by the entire process that surrounds it: diagnosis, execution, monitoring.”

Contraindications and alerts

Not all people are in a position to make a mammoplasty. Autoimmune diseases, coagulation disorders, unstable mood states or clinical conditions without control are reasons for postponing or directly discarding the intervention. So are external motivations, such as the pressure of the couple, social mandate or unreal body models. “The decision must be proper, reflected and taken with real expectations. If there is no personal conviction, surgery will not make sense,” warns the specialist.

The breast increase is safe and very high level of satisfaction when done with medical criteria and professional responsibility. Information is the first step, and the most important. Knowing the risks, evaluating the benefits, understanding the procedure and trusting a qualified medical team are the keys to guaranteeing not only a good aesthetic result, but also health, well -being and tranquility.

In a context of entempration, fashion aesthetics and inflated expectations, the patient must return to the center of the scene. And in that sense, as the most recognized professionals in the sector coincide, surgery begins long before the operating room: it begins when health is prioritized.
