Berlin-based gap-toothed esthete makko has released his eight-song album PASS DICH NIE AN, PASS AUF DICH AUF and in the course of the release has put another music video for one of the album songs online. In the song, he shares his current life motto with his listeners: “Life is too short to be afraid,” says the up-and-coming rapper. The emotional song is accompanied by a guitar loop on an otherwise minimalistic beat.
“Why am I talking to her like that, baby, why am I so mean?
I don’t take anything for granted, especially people I love
My favorite drugs are my life, friends and weed
I urgently need therapy, but no one gives me an appointment”
The deliberately casual music video accompanies the rapper through what is probably an ideal-typical makko day. Again and again, lines of text from the song appear physically in the environment, for example as tattoos, graffiti, lettering on banknotes or lipstick notes on a mirror. makko himself appears surprisingly dapper in the video, which could also be due to a suit he dons towards the end of the music video.
From PASS DICH NIE AN, PASS AUF DICH AUF, which is now the Berliner’s fourth album, makko had previously recorded the songs “Melodies 2“, “the same lyre” and “AirPods“ decoupled. Now with the release there are five new songs, in which makko stays true to itself both in terms of content and sound. Here you can find the album streaming on Spotify:
