Making a carnival hit has never been easier (courtesy of Lamme Frans)

With the carnival period just around the corner, the new carnival numbers are flying around you. Have you always wanted to make your own cracker, but you don’t know how? Then Lamme Frans has come up with a solution for you.

The carnival artist has made a special carnival machine, with which everyone will soon have their own carnival number. On the special website you can enter which topics the hit should be about and then it will be done in no time. Whether you want a cracker about your pet and favorite food, or about your favorite drink: two verses and a chorus appear on your screen as desired. You also get a matching album cover.

The carnival machine was also featured in the video clip of ‘Handjes Handjes Bloemetjesscherm’ by Lamme Frans. Back then it was just a piece of decor. But now it has come to life.

Lamme Frans is happy with the result. “It is unbelievable what the computer is capable of these days, you are sometimes amazed at how well the text sometimes flows,” said the artist. “I know carnival performers who would benefit from it!”

Rhyming sometimes turns out to be a bit too complicated for the computer. “It’s still a profession, isn’t it? As you can hear me shout at the end of ‘Handjes Handjes Bloemetjesscherm’: ‘next year I’ll just write it myself again!”

‘Original angle’
The website uses an algorithm that generates texts based on the two subjects you enter. The carnival machine was made in collaboration with digital agency LiveWall from Tilburg.

Eelco van de Wiel, founder of LiveWall, explains: “As an agency, we like to experiment with new technology, and artificial intelligence is certainly part of that. It is always nice to combine that with an original approach, such as the carnival music in this case. And as fervent carnival celebrations, the link with the Carna+ from the Lamme Frans video clip was quickly made for us.”
