Majority of leadership must go

The insolvent fashion retailer Peek & Cloppenburg Düsseldorf separates from a large part of its management team.

The top floor is not spared from the job cuts announced last week. The management of Peek & Cloppenburg KG, Düsseldorf, is now made up of CEO Thomas Freude, CFO Steffen Schüller and restructuring expert Dirk Andres, the company announced on Tuesday on request. Schüller continues to work together with Alexander Deopito as managing director of Peek & Cloppenburg KG in Vienna.

This means that the positions of online boss Sven Bernhardt, logistics boss Ricardo Carballo, sales boss Melanie Kleemann, HR boss Carolin Schwarz, women’s fashion purchasing boss Henriette Tesch and board member John Cloppenburg will be eliminated. “Appropriate talks have already been held,” the company said. The specialist magazine Textilwirtschaft previously reported on the personal details.

Cuts at P&C’s Düsseldorf headquarters

The areas of responsibility of the former members of the company management are now in the management. Uwe Fehr will be responsible for purchasing for both men and women.

On Friday, Peek & Cloppenburg applied for a protective shield procedure at the district court in Düsseldorf. A “not insignificant reduction in staff” at the headquarters, including the management levels, was also announced. More details are to be announced in the coming weeks, and it is still unknown how many positions will be affected by the deletions.

Peek & Cloppenburg cited the slump in sales in 2020 and 2021 caused by Corona as the reason for the imbalance, which led to losses. Reluctant consumer behavior, delivery problems and higher costs for sourcing and energy also had a negative impact. A closure of shops is not planned according to the current status.
