Major League Soccer: Cherundolo praises Kruse: Should be an issue for Los Angeles FC

Ex-Bundesliga player Steven Cherundolo has raved about the skills of retired Wolfsburg attacker Max Kruse.

“A player with such qualities should be an issue for every team. Also for LAFC,” said the coach of the US soccer first division club Los Angeles FC and ex-professional from Hannover 96 of the “Bild am Sonntag”. The 43-year-old trains, among others, the veterans Gareth Bale (33) and Giorgio Chiellini (38).

Kruse has long been associated with a move to Major League Soccer (MLS) because his son lives there and because he has spoken positively about the USA in the past.

Coach Niko Kovac had suspended the Wolfsburg attacker last week and publicly stated that the 34-year-old would no longer play a game for VfL. He is accused of a lack of professionalism and thus a bad influence on the rest of the team. Therefore, the offensive strategist does not play a role in the coach’s plans in the Lower Saxony game at his ex-club Union Berlin.

Kruse future: No trend at the moment

“We didn’t get the impulses that we promised ourselves,” said sports director Marcel Schäfer before the game at DAZN regarding the decision. When asked about the future trend of the VfL attacker, he replied that there is “not currently”.

Kruse is currently still training with the team. According to the “Bild” talks about a contract termination are to be held in Wolfsburg in the coming week. The ex-player from Werder Bremen, Borussia Mönchengladbach and SC Freiburg still has a contract with the Wolves until the end of June 2023.
