The fire brigade is present en masse at Petlas Banden Service and is trying to prevent the fire from spreading further. “The tire storage is located in a business complex,” says a spokesperson for the fire brigade. “We are now trying to prevent the fire from spreading to the rest of the building.”

In addition to the tire storage, the building also houses a branch of Carglass and Toolstation.

‘Close windows and doors’
Because of the enormous smoke development calls the safety region people in the area to close windows and doors. The smoke moves mainly to the northeast towards the Halsterseweg. Measurements are taken near the fire to see whether hazardous substances are released.

“We are currently on site with about ten fire engines,” the spokesperson said. “Efforts are now mainly being made to extinguish the fire from above with an aerial work platform.”
