A fire broke out at a wood workshop in Oijen on the night of Wednesday to Thursday. The flames rose meters high from the roof of the building on Lutterweg.
The first report of the fire came to the fire brigade around two o’clock, it was said to be a ‘stable fire’.
The fire started in the roof of the building. The fire brigade quickly scaled up to a major fire. Fire brigades from Oss, Heesch, Lith, Megen, Den Bosch and Rosmalen were deployed. In total there were four tankers, an aerial platform, two water trucks and a large water transport at the wood workshop.
Horses are housed elsewhere
Horses were in a stable next to the shed, the animals are safely housed elsewhere. Residents of a nearby house also had to temporarily leave their home.
The fire marshal was given the signal around a quarter past four, the fire is under control but the fire brigade is still extinguishing it. This can cause smoke nuisance in the area. The advice is to keep windows and doors closed.
Residents have returned to their homes. No one was injured in the fire. It is not yet known how the fire started.
