Mainz 05 will continue to rely on coach Jan Siewert for the time being

No other contacts

After the resignation of coach Bo Svensson, 1. FSV Mainz 05 will continue to rely on the previous U23 coach Jan Siewert. “He stabilized the team, kept two clean sheets and got four points. He will remain our coach until further notice and can play well. There is currently a lot to suggest that things will continue with him,” said sports director Martin Schmidt on Saturday after the 0-0 draw in the Bundesliga with newly promoted Darmstadt 98.

When asked, Schmidt confirmed that the club was currently “not conducting any negotiations” with other coaches and that there were “no contacts”. “We have full confidence in this constellation,” said the 56-year-old. Siewert convinces with a direct and clear approach. “A lot has changed in terms of motivation and the structure of training,” reported Schmidt.
