Mainz 05 made Benedict Hollerbach’s transfer perfect on Sunday. But not all fans are looking forward to the newcomer.

Striker Benedict Hollerbach changes within the Bundesliga of Union Berlin to Mainz 05. The Rheinhessen announced on Sunday that the 24-year-old signed a contract until 2029. The message states that the two clubs have agreed not to disclose the transfer modalities. According to Sky, Mainz transfers 12 million euros to the capital.

Sports director Nico Bungert said that you are happy about Hollerbach’s obligation. His style of play would match the brave and intense Mainz football style. Hollerbach is “one of the most dynamic and most dynamic professionals in the Bundesliga,” said Bungert, who also praised the inaugural strength and danger of the newcomer.

Hollerbach emphasized how much he is looking forward to the new sporting challenge at the 05s. He wanted to pay back what he had. The club showed him a sporting perspective, “in which I can continue to develop football and can bring in my strengths like the high willingness to run and my many sprints,” said the attacker. “I have the feeling that I fit perfectly into my new team and look forward to the intensive and brave football with her.”

Hollerbach switched from Wiesbaden to Berlin in 2023. He had his assault last season. For Union, he scored nine goals in the Bundesliga and put on three more.

On Instagram, for example, a supporter writes: “You oblige a player to be noticed by women -considering behavior – and expect us to simply swallow it? Whoever acts like this reveals your own values.” And further: “Attitude is not a PR phrase. Sporty success does not justify a trend.”

Background of these words: Hollerbach’s move to Berlin two years ago was controversial. Among other things, he is said to be liked to be liking to be misogynistic content on Instagram and followed the associated accounts. Later he defended himself against the allegations: “I have nothing to reproach myself. The pages that I followed are motivational sites and sides to discipline themselves as a person,” said Hollerbach as “Bild”. “This is extremely important to me, I have to perform every day and be awake in my head.”

Apparently not all Mainz fans believe him. One of them wrote on X: “Better to make my club a single transfer, so a transfer.” Another commented: “No, people, really not. Definitely not a warm welcome. Or are we recently tolerating women -looking ideas?” Another fan wrote: “Ashamed. He will whistle, I promise you.”

Some supporters also see a good reinforcement for the club in Hollerbach – and show leniency. “Sportily a great reinforcement. His mistakes have been years ago. He also learns from mistakes.
